Sometimes tooth decay causes infection inside the tooth or jaw bone. In this situation, it is too late to place a filling and the tooth needs more complex treatment known as pulp therapy. If this is not done, it is likely the tooth will abscess. Apart from potentially causing severe pain, the infection may also damage the new tooth underneath.
Where possible, pulp therapy allows the tooth to be saved, which is better for keeping the space for the adult tooth.
Dr Linnett will discuss the various aspects of pulp therapy if required for your child’s tooth.
